God is Eternal
“…from everlasting to everlasting you are God.” – Psalm 90:2
God’s
attributes are his essential characteristics that make him who he is. One
attribute of God is that he is eternal. Since before creation, Psalm 90:2
describes God as “from everlasting to everlasting.” In other words, God existed
before all creation. Though God has no beginning or end and is in no way bound
by time, he sees events and acts in his created world in time. [1]
God, who is eternal, took on human flesh, died the death
that we deserved, and was raised on the third day so that He could rescue us,
free us from the grip of sin, give us a new heart, and grant us eternal life. “Jesus
Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever” (Hebrews 13:8). As for yesterday,
he was active in creation. As for today, Jesus offers salvation. As for
forever, he reigns in heaven! [2]
Dear friends, always remember - and never forget - that to
trust in Jesus is to trust in the unchanging God of eternity. Jesus is
eternally trustworthy and when you trust in him you can know peace, rest, and
comfort, no matter what you may be facing.
